I, Anne Tichenor, am so glad to be part of the second-grade team at Richland Ave. Elementary! I have taught grades 3, 4, and 5 for the past 22 years in LAUSD, in both Title 1 and Gifted Magnet schools. In addition, I taught grade 2 in a private school for 8 years. I have an MA in Instructional Leadership and Curriculum Design and am certified in Gifted and Talented Education. The novelty of each child and new day in the classroom continue to inspire me, so retirement doesn't hold any allure yet.
Raised in Chicago, at 32 I decided to migrate to California, packed up a rental truck, and made my way West. It's a decision I've never regretted and have had many adventures along the way. I probably remain, however, a Midwesterner at heart.
My husband and I enjoy hiking and exploring the wilds of the Sierras with our two dogs. I also love to swim, bike, watch old films, and write poetry. Two monthly Book Clubs keep me reading regularly. Getting together with old friends and family, as well as meeting new friends, are joys I cherish.
